My Confirmation

On December 1st 2016, I received my Confirmation in the St Dominic Church in Madrid with the rest of my friends of my class.

My family was also with me in this very importan moment of my life as Catholic.

The Catholic Church teaches us that Confirmation was prefigured in the Gospel of Matthew at Christ's baptism in the River Jordan when the Holy Spirit descended upon him in the form of a dove. In the Book of Acts, the Apostles are filled with the Holy Spirit, which they pass on to other Christians through the laying on of hands.

Father Rayo explained us that the consecrated oil in Confirmation is an outward sign of the inward grace conferred by the sacrament. As a Catholic I believe that the sacrament imprints a spiritual mark upon the soul of the receiver.

In the ceremony, the laying on of hands is an essential part of the sacrament, along with the words "Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit."

Ordinarily the sacrament of Confirmation is administered by a bishop, but that day,  our bishop could not be present  that day and he  granted the faculties for Confirmation to the Vicar Bishop.
